Ways to Give

Donate Now

There are many ways to make a gift to Saint Mary’s. The Development Office can provide you with information about each option and its benefits, and which would best meet your needs and objectives.

Gifts to Saint Mary’s can be made as a one-time gift or pledged over a number of years – depending on the size of the gift and its purpose. In addition, we encourage our donors to consider installment schedules that might allow them to make larger gifts over time. Gifts may be made monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or on a specific schedule identified by the donor.

Gifts of Cash

The simplest way to support Saint Mary's is by making an outright gift of cash. A cash gift entitles the donor to an income tax deduction in the year of the gift.

Securities

Appreciated:
A gift of long term appreciated securities (those held for more than one year) entitles the donor to a tax deduction for the full market value of the donated stock, without having to recognize the capital gain.

Depreciated:
If your securities have depreciated in value and are worth less than you paid for them, it is usually more advantageous for you to sell the securities, claim the loss on your tax return and contribute the cash proceeds.

To make a gift of stock please use the Stock Transaction Form and Instructions below.

Credit Card

Memorial and Honor Gifts

A tribute gift is a meaningful way to convey sympathy to the bereaved, memorialize a loved one, commemorate a special occasion or honor someone special.

It is also an opportune way to express gratitude to a Saint Mary's employee or volunteer who has made a special impact. A note is sent to the individual being honored—or the family of those memorialized—informing them of the gift and the identity of the donor. The amount of the gift is kept confidential.

Matching Gifts

Double the power of your gift! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs that supplement their employees’ charitable donations. Your company may match, double or even triple your initial gift.

Eligible donors for a corporate matching gift may include:

  • A current, full-time or part-time employee
  • A retired employee
  • Spouse of an employee
  • Widow and/or widower of a former employee

Please encourage your employer to match your generosity. Contact your companies' Human Resource Department to find out if you are eligible .

Bequest

The following language may help you and your attorney when drawing up a bequest that meets your needs.

"I give, devise and bequeath to Saint Mary's Home of Erie, a not-for-profit organization organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the sum of $_________(or state a percentage of your estate) for the benefit of Saint Mary's Home of Erie for its general purposes (or a stated purpose)."

Life Insurance

Our supporters often overlook the benefits of giving a life insurance policy to Saint Mary’s. If you are carrying more insurance coverage than your family obligations now require, you may want to consider gifting an unneeded, paid-up policy.
