After 135 years, Saint Mary's Home of Erie continues its Mission:

Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph and operated in the Catholic tradition Saint Mary’s Home of Erie is committed to an environment of loving to care where primarily seniors, their families, staff and volunteers participate in fostering an atmosphere of community.

Saint Mary's Home of Erie, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania, opened its doors on September 21, 1884.

Over the past 135 years, Saint Mary's has evolved to meet the needs of the community. Now Saint Mary’s Home of Erie operates two campuses serving the Erie community; Saint Mary’s East, which is the corporate office, and Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge.

In 2005, Saint Mary's Home of Erie became a licensed Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and expanded its services with the construction of 26 independent living homes for seniors, The Carriage Homes at Asbury Ridge, located on the campus of Saint Mary’s at Asbury Ridge, 4855 West Ridge Road, Erie, Pennsylvania.

Today, under the direction of the Board of Trustees and Allen L. Bonace, President/CEO, Saint Mary's provides a full continuum of care. With an average of 500 employees, Saint Mary's offers Independent Living, Residential Living and Personal Care, Skilled Nursing, Short and Long-Term Rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and Dementia Care, Adult Day Services, Home Care and Respite Care. Amenities include on-site nursing staff, social services, support services, nutritional services, Catholic and Ecumenical religious services, beauty and barber services, and daily recreational activities.
